Doctors really don't know what causes headaches, especially those that incapacitate their victims for days. But if we are in tune with our own bodies, and watch for certain lifestyle events, it is possible to latch on to some relief. And all this without drugs. Why not try these suggestions. PREVENTIVE MEDICINE This, of course, is the best way to find relief. Use the journal approach to find out what triggers your headache. Look for these in particular:
Times of stress, which inhibits the digestion of food
If you find these in your lifestyle, maybe it's time for a change. THE ENEMA This is not very pleasant to discuss or initiate, but it can bring relief, nonetheless. Make a tea of any one of these herbs: catnip, blue or black cohash, spearmint, peppermint, or skullcap. Add this tea to water which is as warm as you can take it. Using at least a pint of water, retain as long as possible. Repeat, as needed. DRINKING TEAS Drink cups of hot tea made with spearmint, peppermint, or hops. Red sage is also good for headaches. Lay down and relax. If you don't have the herbs, try squeezing the juice of a lemon in a cup of hot water. (No sweetener) MASSAGE Cranial plates shift on your head like the Earth's plates. When they move, they get an earthquake. When your plates move, you get a head ache. There are things you can do to get them back in line. Apply your fingertips to your scalp like you would if you were washing your hair. Do this slowly and firmly. Then, take 1-inch sections of your hair, and pull to the point before you feel any pain. Continue until you've covered your entire head. PRESSURE POINTS (Please review point procedures in my articles LAYMAN'S ACUPUNCTURE Parts: 1, 2, and 3. Bigger Rushing: Located between large and second toes on both feet, about an inch down from the webbing.-- Rub this point to stimulate circulation. Above Tears Located between fourth and fifth toes, about one inch below webbing.-- Rub this point for 30 seconds. Drilling Bamboo Find where the bridge of your nose meets the ridge of the eyebrows. There are 2 indentations, one by the inner edge of each eyebrow.-- Breathe deeply and hold for 1-2 minutes. Facial Beauty Located on the face at the bottom of the cheekbone in line with the pupil.--Using index and middle fingers of each hand, press gently up and under the cheekbone. Hold for one minute. (very sensitive) After your treatment, relax and enjoy a cup of the tea made from one of those listed above. Try using one or any combination of the suggestions mentioned here.
