The Adventures of the Wilderness Family

A review by Pamela Garza

Starring: Robert F. Logan, Susan Damante Shaw, Hollye Holmes, Ham Larsen

WILDERNESS FAMILY is based on a true story about a family confronting the wilderness they call home. At-home accidents like slipping in the bathtub are now replaced by the attacking wildlife, like bears, wolves, and mountain lions. Grocery shopping becomes hunting moose and raspberries. And recreation could be a mud fight, an outdoor picnic, smog-free strolls in the woods, or a river ride on a homemade raft, which in my opinion beats video games.

Logan must be an outdoorsman in real life, because he is at his best as the father, Skip Robinson, who carries the burden in this adventure. Damante Shaw playes his wife, Pat, with just enough motherly apprehension and spunk. Holmes and Larsen, who play Jennifer and Toby, do well considering this is their first appearance in front of the camera.

The photography makes you wish you were there, and inspires you to root for Dennis Weaver and his non-profit organization, which fights for the saving of our planet's resources.

This is the first of a trilogy and the best.
