I've always thought that serving guests from a The Serving Tray shows a lot of class and profound respect for the guest. Now with a tray you've made yourself, you can add pride to the occasion. Plus you can start with these simple ingredients and build from there. You can also store these trays as decorations when not in use.
Here is what you'll need:
1. One wooden picture frame with glass included. (Frame in the picture is 11 1/2 inches by 14 inches.)
2. 4 wood, drawer pulls (to match or contrast frame)
3. Wood glue
One picture or other decoration to place under the glass (You could use pressed leaves or flowers. You could also cut a square of interesting fabric, like a chintz or brocade.)
1. Put the decoration you've chosen in the picture frame and under the glass.
2. Using wood glue, attach the drawer pulls to the back of the frame, one at each corner. (These are the 'feet' of your tray.)
3. Allow glue to dry before using your tray.
And that's it. Of course, you can build on any step. Paint the frame and pulls. Buy and attach miniature, brass handles (from the craft store) to the sides for carrying purposes. Put one of the kid's great art pieces in the frame as a keepsake. Make a bunch for individual use.
Class, respect, and pride all rolled into one easy craft. Can you dig it?
