Are the kids stuck inside because of rain? Snowstorm? Vacation? Boredom? Need about an hour of quality time to yourself to get some things done? Need a quick solution to these problems?.... READ ON!!

Having a THEATER PARTY is an immediate answer to the problem. It's inexpensive, and the ingredients are almost always on hand. If they're not, maybe you should make plans now for including them in your Emergency Kit.

Getting the right atmosphere is important so that kids can feel the excitement. A cozy, dark room (like a real theater) with a coverlet over the window is easy with the help of a few clothespins.

You've taught the kids to love the oldies, right? You know, our black 'n' white favorites like ABBOTT and COSTELLO, CHARLIE CHAN, SHERLOCK HOLMES. If not, there are always the older DISNEY movies. (Click Family Movies for reviews on an assorted family shows I recommend.)

Now, this where the THEATER PARTY NACHOS come in.

Set out these ingredients buffet style. If you'd like, serve in paper containers like the real theaters do. Add drinks. This is so simple, the kids can make their own.

Oh, and make sure you're in your seat when the feature starts.

"The movies starts in 15 minutes.

THEATER PARTY NACHOS

INGREDIENTS: 1 large bag of tortilla chips 1 package of cheese slices or shredded cheese 1 jar/can of jalepeno slices (in vinegar) DIRECTIONS: 1. Place a layer of tortilla chips on a microwavable plate. 2. Cut each slice of cheese into 3 strips. Cut each strip in half. 3. Place a piece of cheese on each chip. 4. Cook in microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until cheese
is melted, but not browned. 5. Top each nacho chip with a jalepeno slice. (Be sure not to touch
your face after handling these.) 6. Let cool for a moment before eating. (The cheese is hot!) VARIATIONS: Instead of using tortilla chips you could also use any type of cracker.
(Ritz, Saltines, Triskets, etc.) Instead of using jalepenos, (These are too hot for some people.)
use slices of link sausages or hot dogs. And if you are really adventurous,
use bits of fruit, such as apples or pineapple. You could also use all kinds of different cheeses that you can
slice yourself. Mozzarella or Monterey Jack are always good choices.
