The Pillow Quilt can be everything you want it to be. You can make it out of scraps, or plan the schematics by buying 2 yards of each color. Work on it a little bit at a time, or blitz your sewing machine in a major offensive. And you decide on the pattern you want. All you do is make mini-pillows and sew them together. Now that's what I call a 'plan'. Take a look.
INGREDIENTS LIST
Backing material
Material for the 'right' side.
Polyester batting
Yarn of a coordinating color
DIRECTIONS
1. Measure the area that you want the quilt to cover.
2. Decide on the measurements of your individual squares accordingly. I wanted to cover an area of 60 inches by 60 inches, so I made my squares 7 inches by 7 inches. (No matter what length you decide on for your quilt, all sides of the squares should be the same.)
3. Cut 2 squares per pillow. These can be the same color or different colors. You can have all one color on the 'underside' and a checked pattern on the 'right' side. OR a hodge-podge of Memory Materials. I chose a pastel theme.
4. With right sides of the squares together, sew up 3 sides, leaving the fourth side open.
5. Insert a pre-cut square of batting into the case. (Mine was 6 inches by 6 inches.)
6. Fold seam lines of fourth side into the pillow, and sew up fourth side.
7. Top stitch 1/4 inch from edge all around your pillow.
8. Tack the center of pillow with a 2 inch length of yarn.
9. Attach by overlapping the right pillow over the left pillow by using the zig-zag stitch.
With this procedure, you can make one pillow whenever you've got the ingredients and attach at leisure.
