Can parents who homeschool their children ever understand the controversy of homeschooling?
If those on the other side of the issue would take the time to venture into the homeschooling world, they would save themselves a lot of aggravation, and rightly start spending time fighting for a different cause.
They would see that we are people with heart, vision, and courage to buck the odds. They'd see the sacrifice and heart it takes to schedule classes, choose curriculums, explain procedures, buy books and materials, and to do this while making learning fun for various ages, keeping house, and organized.
They would learn that our motive is that of giving the best education to our children, not denying the public schools our child's monetary allotment, or building a militia to overturn the government. They would learn that we are not isolationists who insist on being our child's only friends. We just enjoy the company of like-minded individuals. (Who doesn't?)
All these people have to do is study the outcome, the students themselves. Homeschooling parents are proud of their pupils, and more than likely wouldn't mind showing them off a bit.
I know, I wouldn't mind. My daughter graduates next month (September). She's already decided what she wants. She's starting classes in Criminology and Private Investigation. I'm not afraid for her, because she's got the heart, vision, and courage it takes to buck the odds.
And I know why!
