How to Make a Launder Bag....

Bag it and throw it in the laundry. This bag is easy to make and comes in handy when you need to wash fine washables, cloth bandages, slippers, scarves, scrunchies, and the like. I've even used this bag to wash stones, jewelry, kitchen scrubbers, and plastic baubles. Put anything unbreakable (and that which tends to 'disappear' in the washer) in the bag, zip, and toss in the machine. Sound intriguing?

Ingredients:

one fourth of a yard of lace fabric
one 7-inch zipper

Directions:

1. Cut two pieces out of the lace fabric. This can be about 10 inches by 6 inches or any other small dimensions you want. Just make sure that you adjust the size of the zipper.

2. With right sides together, sew a seam along the long end. This is the width. Use the regular stitch for 1 and 1/2 inches. Switch to the basting stitch for 7 inches, then back to the regular sewing stitch to the end. (This accommodates the zipper.)

3. Press seam. Turn so that the wrong side is up. Place the zipper on the seam along the basting stitches. Make sure that the zipper tab is facing the material.

4. Sew along all the edges of the zipper. Rip out the BASTING stitches only. You have put in the zipper to your bag.

5. Put right sides together and sew a 1/2 inch along the other three sides. Turn through zipper opening.

That is it! 5, I say 5, simple steps. Could anything so functional be so easy to construct? But I LIKE 'em that way.
